Fernandezia

Fernandezia is a genus of very striking miniature orchids found in Northern South America from Peru to Venezuela. There are only a few known species, less than 10.

I must admit, I have never seen one and I do not know of any one who is cultivating them. Apparently they are extremely difficult to grow.

From in-situ taken pictures, all species appear to be epiphytes, grow on twigs and have no pseudo-bulbs. Individual blooms are produced from the leaf axils, and the flowrer size varies from species to species from about 1 cm to 3 cm. All the photos I have seen show red flowers. Fernandezia is related to Dichaea

It is always wise to read as much as you can and improve your knowledge, before you buy any plants.
