Ludisia

Ludisia is a genus represented by only one species, Ludisia discolor. A native to India and South East Asia, it grows predominately in moderate altitudes and climatic conditions.

Its popularity lies in its beautifully colored leaves which have dark olive green color and orange to red colored veins and are produced along a fleshy 3-5 mm thick, brittle stem that grows close to the ground. There are many variations. The inflorescence can carry up to 12 flowers that are predominantly pure white. It flowers during the early spring time.

Easy to grow and because it is a fast grower, it requires a shallow, wide surface pot (it has shallow roots). It also requires shade and humid and intermediate temperatures.
