Melaleuca Bark (Paperbark)

Very little is known about the qualities of "Paperbark" and I am not quite sure if orchid growers from countries other than Australia know or use "Paper bark". It is not the perfect media to use because it retains moisture longer and rots easily.

Allegedly, it has been fount to be ideal for lining hanging baskets. Paper bark is also used to "cover" roots when tying a plant to a mount.

If you are planning to use paper bark in your hanging baskets, it is wise to talk to an existing user to make sure that you know how it is done. (Use the right amount; make the necessary holes, etc).

I am told that some Cymbidiums do love paper bark to.
